I still can’t forget Chinua Achebe’s reaction to the National award, most recently Teni’s reaction to the national award.
Also reminds me of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, who equally rejected a similar award.
While some may add Aljahi Gidado Idris, others may not want to as his reason for rejecting the award is a bit different

Ironically, this award comes every year. And the award ranges from GCFR, CFR, MFR, OFR, GCON, CON, OFN, MFN.

World-renowned literary icon, Chinua Achebe was one of those who rejected the National Award.
Achebe rejected the award of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) back in 2004, under the Obasanjo administration.

The literary icon, cited dissatisfaction with the Nigerian government as his reason for rejectibg the award.
Seven years later, in 2011, under the President Good luck Jonathan’s administration, Achebe would again reject the same award, as his reason for rejection the initial award has still not been met.
Fast forward 11 years later, Nigerian Singer, Teniola Apata popularly known as Teni would be conferred with MON (Member of the Order of the Niger)
Her attitude towards the president would be a talking point.
