The new year has started, and there is no need to keep postponing. Here are 14 businesses that you should start in this new year of 2023

1. CONTENT WRITING

Content Writing is a very lucrative business. Especially in this digital age. A lot of businesses are rising up, and of course they need content. From blog posts, to social media posts, to pictures with captions.

It is basically creating content for people. Whatever you create to inform, entertain or educate people is a content.

This year, you should start. You can even start creating content individually, so you’d have what to show when you decided to do so for a brand.

You can start from social media. Facebook, Instagram, anything at all.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

This is one lucrative business, how much you earn depends on your expertise and haggling power.

As a lot of businesses are rising up, they all need presence on social media, cos sales and visibility comes from it. Take charge of a companies account, where you’d be required to post at least 3 posts daily. Your charge starts from N25,000 to anything you can haggle.

3. CLEANING SERVICES

Cleaning services is another business too, that is gaining traction. Why? In these times, a lot of people are quite lazy. So you can cash in on it.

Clean for event centres after event, clean people’s houses on the weekend and even weekdays. When people rent new apartment, clean for them.

The problem in this one is, you need massive branding and marketing.

4. FREELANCING

Should I talk about it? Freelancing is like the mother of plenty. It’s basically performing a service for a client and getting paid.

Only that, you could be doing it and getting paid in dollars, instead of naira.

5. DROPSHIPPING

This one, you don’t need to own a shop. It’s like Affiliate marketing but here you are selling physical products.

Ranging from shoes to bags to perfumes. But you’re a middle man that helps get the products to end users who pay you money for it!

This is shorter job that is on the rise. Not just for Nigerian clients o. It’s just that you’d need to put yourself out there.

People have to know that you do this. Then watch the job flood you, both foreign and Nigerian clients will all flood you.

7. TRANSPORTATION

Yes, transport! It is very lucrative in Nigeria. Nigeria is one of the most populated place in the world. Do you know what that means?

It means quite a lot of people want to move around. There is a gap, a never ending gap.

You could go from owning a fleet of buses, to run within a state or inter state. At best, you could focus on a particular zone.

You could also use your car for Bolt or Uber, or even Kabu-Kabu. The major thing is, cash flow.

Quite a number of people still under estimate this particular skill and I still don’t understand.

Quite a lot of people are hiring social media managers to put their business on social media, haven’t you seen the gap yet?

Isn’t it obvious? With urbanization, a lot of families now want to use gas.

Even if it’s not the conventional gas cooker. Just the cylinder, it’s okay for them. What does that tell you? Seeing the gap yet?

You just need a shop, it doesn’t even have to be beautiful. 50 families buying from you and that’s serious cash flow.

11. PHOTOGRAPHY

When I say photography I’m not talking of going to occasions to harass people to take pictures o?.

Now, every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to take a picture for the gram. Not hard copies, most of them not even to be framed. They just want to post on social media and boy is there money in it!

12. FASHION BUSINESS

Call it fashion designing, call it tailor, but it involves clothing people in a beautiful way. Oh

Oh dear, there is money in this one. Major thing is to learn it very well, once you’re sure. Don’t just stay like the people of old where you just open shop and wait for customers.

Take the initiative, go to social media and call out your customers. From graphics guy to your video guy to your model for the pictures! Start from your one shop but treat it like it’s more than one shop!

13. INTERIOR DECOR

This is a new industry that is fast rising, from event centers decorations, for occasions, down to decorations of residential homes and even offices.

14. AFFILIATE MARKETING

This is the ultimate of them all — Affiliate marketing! Here you can print money. All you need do is to sell other people’s products and make commision.
